The Clothing Exchange Australia P/L owns all intellectual property relating to a service design, exchange event format, structure and design of the clothing exchange events run by us. Our system of clothing exchange (in the format of a social event with a 1 for 1 garment exchange with buttons as currency) was developed by Kate Pears for her Masters of Fashion (by thesis) in 2004 at RMIT University and as such is an independent project with a published record.

As we receive a great deal of interest from organisations such as councils and schools, so we now offer a hosting service for councils and like organisations to bring swapping to these community- focused hubs! Currently we have host teams in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne. We are very excited about expanding into other states and regions around Australia. We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic hosts with the skills in event hosting and a soft spot for fashion, sustainability or both!
